Canon Vixia HF100 puts HD Video on SD cards
Canon’s Vixia HF100 - Impressive.
A single word that truly means much when it comes to my opinion regarding the latest SDHC HD Camcorder from Canon. It’s truly impressive and there are so many features, it is hard to pick a place to start.
First of all, the camera is beautiful, well designed and laid out. The camera does not record to DV tape, hard drive or internal memory - instead, it records on full-size SDHC cards. That means based on the currently available capacities, you could store up to 32GB of HD video before needing to pop in another card and keep the action rolling.
Using SD cards is the most convenient method I can think of for using any type of device - the more ubiquitous, the easier to handle, process, etc. Plus, with the size of an SDHC memory card being so tiny, you can have a collection and shoot footage for days. Based on the current low prices on flash memory (actually all memory as far as that goes), it’s the time to stock up on flash for the future.
Other things that are great about this camera is integrated HDMI (through a mini-HDMI connection) - allowing you full HD playback on your plasma or LCD-TV, plus of course it offers the standard array of analog connections for use on the go or as needed for connecting to other systems for live events, etc.
Shooting in full 1920×1080 video with the AVCHD codec, this camera offers true 1080P resolution.
The video quality is amazing, photos are also stunning. To showcase some of the quality which can be achieved with this great camcorder from Canon, we’ve put an HD clip on Vimeo and embedded it below for your viewing pleasure. Plus, to get the full low-down on the camera, we’ve included Logan’s video from CompUSA TV featuring his overview of the Vixia HF100.
Well worth the money - and the quality and convenience are amazing. (Get it at CompUSA.com)
