El Paso Times: CompUSA ReOpens with New Look, ProductsAbout 300 electronics enthusiasts and curious shoppers lined up for [El Paso Texas] CompUSA’s grand reopening at 7 a.m. Friday, store officials estimated. The store at 9521 Viscount, formerly part of a shuttered Dallas chain, was one of 16 CompUSA stores purchased by New York company Systemax Inc. and recently reopened.

Eastsider Noel Pallares and his 7-year-old daughter, Victoria, got in line at 6:30 a.m. to check out the new store and to buy a television. “It’s good for El Paso,” Pallares said. “It gives you more options to shop.”

Store Manager Vincent Cabral, who had worked for 10 years for the previous version of CompUSA, said he and his crew are happy to have their jobs back.

“It’s good to be back in business, it’s good for the employees and it’s good to have jobs,” he said. “Honestly, this is a better company.

“Customers will be really happy. Prices are a lot better and customer service is a lot better. We’ve done a lot of retraining.”
