Cordless Charging A Reality!

Get the latest information on Mojo Mobility Inc. and their innovative wireless plate to charge all your digital media players and cellphones without the clutter of a bunch of cables. Using technology that has been both dream and reality for over 100 years they take a big step towards the next generation of powering our devices. Following in the footstops of Nikola Tesla they pioneer the next wave of solutions to your cable clutter problems.

Ok, so I’m sitting there setting up my new eight-outlet surge protector to replace my old six-outlet one when I think to myself “I wish there was one source where I could just charge everything without the use of all the cords.” My iPod, cell phone, digital camera, camcorder, PSP, and other electronics can now rest easy that they are one step closer to this thanks to the team at Mojo Mobility Inc, a Silicon Valley-based venture firm. They developed the technology that allows you to simultaneously charge multiple devices using a piece of sheet powered by an electromagnetic induction method as reported on Tech On!

This is so big! It means that we are on the verge of wireless energy becoming a household name. This isn’t a new idea, from the days of Tesla and his wireless energy transmission this device has really come a long way! Just imagine a house powered like this where you can place your device anywhere and it’s consistantly being charged by a simple induction power source. You wouldn’t need wires anymore! This is technology that has been around for over 100 years and it is finally starting to shed some feasible light. Tesla had made statements that using the Earth as a power source and giving wireless electricity to the entire planet! Of course this technology is probably decades off, but it’s great to hope.So what are they and when can you get one of these bad boys? Well Mojo dubs the technology NFP for Near Field Power. Currently the prototype can emit electricity of 2.5W to 4W and charge mobile phones, headsets and mobile music players with an efficiency of electric power transmission higher than 70%, including the peripheral circuit.

“Today, each family owns a number of mobile devices, and rooms are a mess of charger cables. Using our technology, charger cables of multiple devices can be replaced with a single sheet.”

-Afshin Partovi, CEO of Mojo Mobility

As for when, the company is currently at the stages of patenting the process and other related technologies, and intends to supple the non-contact charging module to device manufacturers and suggest to material manufacturers that they embed the receiving coil in their Li-Ion batteries. The company also plans on making a one-chip control circuit and adding the non-contact charging control circuit in power management ICs for devices as reported on TechOn!.
