Mythbuster’s MONA LISA in 80 nanoseconds by nVidia
nVidia made a grand demonstration during their recent nVision conference - the popular geek series ‘Mythbusters’ hosts showed how CPUs work vs. a GPU.
While perhaps overly simplified, it was a beautiful example. Showing a CPU, the paintballs are fired one at a time in order to form a smily face, complete with eyes and a nose. Then, after removing a giant tarp, a big paint gun with many nozzles shows how a GPU works.
Mona Lisa in 80 nanoseconds - by nVidia
The video’s last four seconds have the biggest impact visually. The mythbusters compared a CPU vs a GPU and the GPU drew an ACTUAL mona lisa drawing using paint balls in 80 nanoseconds.
