Puerto Rico - We Are Back!

Puerto Rico Tribute ThumbnailSurfing around YouTube tonight, I stumbled across a video from the Bayamon, Puerto Rico CompUSA Store (formerly #508) which was basically a farewell to all the employees of the store. The happiness on the face of the employees says much more than I can even begin to tell you in this post.

The good news is - the All-New Guaynabo CompUSA is already open to the public! This is good news for some of the faces you see in the video, who will most likely be working in the new store. Dedicated employees who truly enjoy coming to work every day - to serve you!

The All-New CompUSA looks forward to serving our Puerto Rico customers - with a wider selection of computers, laptops, electronics, HDTVs, home theater and much more! If you are a do-it-yourselfer and are upgrading or building a NEW pc - then you only need CompUSA for the large selection of motherboards, memory, video cards, hard drives and other key components you need!

Thanks to the PR 508 crew and for sharing this great clip with everyone online.

Huh?

I thought CompUSA went out of business and closed all their stores–how are you guys opening more? Didn’t the arrival of BestBuy tip you guys off or… what?

I don’t know, I’m really confused.

I will say however that my experiences in CompUSA in PR were similar, as most of the employees in Carolina (or was it Canovanas? it was too close to the border of the two to tell, I guess) were not happy to be there.

I’m delighted about the comeback. The Puerto Rico store in Guaynabo was the best source for computer equipment period. Yes I will admit it was not perfect, I have not seen a perfect store yet, but it was by far the best computer supply store in the island by far. Congratulations and Welcome back! I hope this time is for good!

Well, if prices shown at opening week still remain then it’s a pleasure to have it back. Prices before closing were similar to Best Buy (espensive).

I traveled from the far northwest side of the island (approx. 180 miles round trip) and was pleasantly surprised and delighted by COMPUSA. As many, I was a bit confused; I heard about the closing but never the re-opening. True COMPUSA might not be perfect, but it’s so close to it, that it’s scary. I enjoy the wide selection at COMPUSA, the ambient in the store and the professional and courtesy manner in which the staff conducts themselves and treat prospective customers. It was well worth the trip and I would do it again; if you shopping falls within the subject of Computing, I strongly recommend before you buy, visiting COMPUSA. Confucius says “A fool’s wisdom comes after they’ve been hurt”.
