The texture of this mechanical wheel is impressive since the wheel is not that sensitive to any kind of touch, thus you can precisely choose the music you want. There’s even a blue light illuminating the player every time you use the scroll. This makes for easier access in darker room settings. Its glossy black finish is scratch resistant, and the back of the player is made out of a liquid metal which has proven itself to be as hard as aluminum or titanium alloy.
Navigation is made easier by the excellent display of the Sandisk Sansa e260. The images on the 1.8-inch display are very luminous, sharp and easy to read. Plus, the player supports video playback, so you can watch your most-loved video clips instantly on this player.
Browsing through the player is a real breeze. The list of options in the main menu is icon-based, and you’ll probably stumble upon different options like Music, FM Radio (yes, it has an FM player!), Photo, Settings, Voice, and Video. Surfing through the sub-menus is not complicated at all, but nice and snappy. Pressing the Submenu button (the one below the scroll wheel) when you’re listening to music will take you to a menu where you can find options to Repeat, Shuffle, EQ, Rate This Song, Scan Through Song, Add Song to Go List, and Back to Music List. Volume is adjusted by turning the scroll wheel. Pressing the center Select Button while you’re listening to a song toggles the display between the amount of time the song has left, a graphic EQ, album art, and a listing for whatever song is next in the queue.
You can upload music in your player without breaking a sweat at all. Two steps: plug, then play. It’s as simple as that. You don’t need to download any complicated programs to fill your playlist. Fill your player with music (and videos and pictures) in a snap. The 4GB is enough to store at least a thousand songs. Imagine taking 1000 favorite tracks anywhere you go. Yes, you can actually expand that 4GB memory with a flash card.
